English Premier League Update: Manchester United defeats rival giant Arsenal 4-0

Looks like Wayne Rooney is back to playing form after his injury forcing him to watch his English national team being embarrassingly defeated by Croatia back in November. It was a type of revenge in a way for Machester United to defeat rival Arsenal 4-0. This is especially true as Brazilian born Eduardo da Silva, a player for the Croatian national team, was part of the squad when Croatia defeated England eliminating them from the Euro Cup on that November day. Eduardo's club team is Arsenal.

According Javno, a Croatian news agency, many anticipated this big match between the two giants who currently are the top two clubs in the English Premier League Standings. However, no one would have thought that it would have been this one sided.

Much like the English national team's loss to Croatia, Arsenal had a number of injured players and were down a man in this loss. It only took Manchester United 38 minutes into the match to score the first three goals forcing Arsenal to return to the locker room with a three goal deficit as a results of contributitons from Englishman Wayne Rooney, Darren Fletcher of Scotland, and Portugal's Nani as the injury hit and unmotivated Arsenal sank and seemd to by out of it by the time the first half whistle blew.

Arsenal was able to increase pressure a little bit in order to destroy any chance of an even more ebarrassing result but were not able to come up with any goals. However, United was the more dominant side and was able to score one more goal after the 74th minute increasing there lead to 4-0.

Despite the loss, Arsenal still remains at the top of the 2007-2008 English Premier League Standings with a very slight lead over Machester United.
